Suffering from headaches or migraines, well suffer no longer!
Acupuncture is effective for treating headaches of all kinds, including migraines, headaches occurring around the menstrual cycle, sinus headaches and tension headaches and headaches occurring with colds and flu’s. Usually patients notice the pain diminishing during or immediately after the acupuncture treatment.
In acupuncture, we feel that Qi moves in vessels, called channels or meridians. These channels begin at the fingers and toes, and go up to the head. When treating headaches, we try to determine where on the head the pain is to see which meridian is affected, and then activate points on the affected channel near the painful area. Acupuncturists maintain that when there is pain, there is a blockage in the Qi flow of the affected channel and we needle these points to open up and correct the smooth flow of Qi in the meridian.
Many patients with headaches and migraines find that they usually go away within five to seven acupuncture treatments. Chronic headaches that have gone on for many years or severe migraines may take longer to resolve, but expect that the headaches will completely stop with acupuncture treatments.

Cosmetic Acupuncture at Russell Hill!
A healthy and safe approach to skin care.
Look and feel younger naturally!
What Is Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic acupuncture involves the insertion of fine acupuncture needles, gentle massage and the principles of traditional Chinese medicine to improve the appearance of the skin. Tiny needles are gently inserted around fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, and other problem areas to improve circulation, decrease discolouration and increase collagen production. The result is firmer skin tone , smoother skin , and a brighter complexion .
What are the effects of cosmetic acupuncture?
- Reduces fine lines and softens deep wrinkles
- Diminish dark circles, reduces puffy eyes
- Decreases discolouration and redness
- Increases collagen production
- Keeps acne under control
- Nourishes, moisturizes and oxygenates the skin from the inside out
- Gives you a healthy, youthful complexion and a natural glow
No cutting, no recovery time, no tell-tale signs of surgery... clients report that friends comment on how great they look... but can't put their finger on why! This treatment is subtle, safe and effective!
Does cosmetic acupuncture hurt?
The needles are very fine and usually no pain is felt . That being said some points can be uncomfortable for a split second as the needle is inserted, but the discomfort typically subsides immediately. There is usually no sensation when the needles are being removed. Most of our clients are surprised how relaxing the treatment sessions are and find stress levels are reduced with continued treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
The initial treatment begins with a discussion about your health history and any skin concerns you want to address. Since Cosmetic Acupuncture has a cumulative effect most individuals will see results after 5 treatments, ideally scheduled once per week. Once a desired outcome is achieved, many clients choose to schedule monthly treatments to maintain results.
Is cosmetic acupuncture covered under Extended Health Care Benefits policies?
Many extended health benefits packages offer partial or full coverage for acupuncture treatments.

Quit smoking with Acupuncture!
Acupuncture as an alternative approach to smoking cessation has a growing number of converts. In fact, acupuncture is often a court mandated treatment for drug addicts because of its ability to reduce cravings and alleviate withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, anxiety and difficulty concentrating.
Stop Smokingwith Acupuncture
Among current U.S. adult smokers, 70% report that they want to quit smoking and millions try to quit every year. If you have attempted to quit smoking, you know how difficult it can be. Nicotine is a powerful addiction. In fact, research suggests that nicotine is as addictive as heroin, cocaine, or alcohol.
It is estimated that most smokers will attempt to quit two or three times, or more, before finally kicking the habit. When conventional methods to quit smoking have failed, smokers often look outside mainstream approaches and turn to alternative medicine.
How Does Acupuncture Help Break the Cigarette Habit?
Acupuncture treatments focus on anxiety related to quitting, cravings, irritability and weight gain; all symptoms that people commonly complain about when they are in the process of quitting.

Eight Tips to Quit Smoking :
- Exercise more. Getting moving is a great way to remind yourself why you shouldn't smoke. Exercise can reduce your stress and help you relax far better than cigarettes.
- Get plenty of fresh fruit and vegetable juices to neutralize and clear the blood of nicotinic acid and to fortify blood sugar.
- Carrots, Carrot juice, celery, leafy green salads and citrus fruits promote body alkalinity and decrease cravings.
- Avoid junk food, sugar and coffee. They can upset blood sugar levels and increase blood acidity which can aggravate smoking withdrawal symptoms.
- Green Tea can be sipped daily during the detox period to keep tissues flooded with elements that discourage nicotine cravings.
- Drink water. Research shows that dryness causes cravings. Sip water frequently throughout the day.
- Practice deep breathing exercises to increase body oxygen and keep calm.
- Schedule your acupuncture treatment!
Acupuncture: Separating Fact from Fiction
Myth: Acupuncture is painful.
Fact: You may feel the initial tap of the needle being inserted, along with some gentile manipulation from the therapist, you should feel some slight sensations, such as numbness, pulling, dragging, warm or cool, tingling, or swirling. At anytime, if the needle does hurt, let the practitioner know and they can help make you more comfortable.
Myth: Needles are reused patient to patient.
Fact: Needles are never reused, all needles come pre-packaged and sterilized, and once they are removed they are disposed of .
Myth: Acupuncture is only good for treating pain.
Fact: It is true that pain responds very well to acupuncture. Low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, headaches and other kinds of pain may all be treated successfully with acupuncture. But because the aim of acupuncture is to bring balance and harmony to the whole person, it can also be an excellent treatment for insomnia, fatigue, digestive problems, menopause, menstrual disorders, infertility, MS, depression, anxiety, and a supportive treatment for patients with cancer, Hepatitis or HIV.
Myth: Acupuncture may conflict with medication, physical therapy and other ‘mainstream’ medical treatments.
Fact: There is no conflict between acupuncture and Western medicine; they complement one another. Acupuncture works nicely as an adjunct to your conventional treatment plan.
Myth: Once you start acupuncture, you’ll always need acupuncture.
Fact: For most conditions, acupuncturists want to get you to the point where your main problem has been resolved and you no longer have to return. Some people stay on a maintenance schedule, however, such as returning once a month, because acupuncture continues to help a chronic condition.
Myth: If you do not see results in one or two treatments, then you’re unlikely to benefit from acupuncture.
Fact: The response to acupuncture is always an individual one. Some people respond quickly — within one, two or three treatments. Others need a full course of eight to 10 treatments. Acupuncture’s effects are cumulative, building with each treatment, so the acupuncturist will assess its effects after you complete a full series of treatments.
